The word navigate is derived from the Latin "navigare", meaning "to sail". All navigational techniques involve locating the navigator's position compared to known locations or patterns. Terrestrial navigation has relied for millenniums on maps, signs, and the human sense of direction [1, 2]; it is only in recent times that radio signals have helped land navigation. The most important tools for navigation were created to ensure safety during maritime journeys. The first infrastructure created as a navigational aid was the lighthouse. The use of GPS satellite service not charged. Users only need the GPS receiver to be able to know the location coordinates. Accuracy depends on the location coordinates on the type of GPS receiver. GPS consists of three parts, satellite that orbit the earth (GPS Satellites circumnavigate the earth 2x a day), control and monitoring stations on earth, and the GPS receiver (GPS equipment of the recipient). GPS satellite is managed by the United States. This is the tool of GPS receiver used by the user to view the coordinates for the position. In addition, GPS is also working to determine the time. GPS satellites send out two signals, namely L1 frequency (1575.42 MHz) and L2 (1227.60 MHz). GPS Dictionary

Accuracy: The degree of conformance between the measured position and its true position. GPS accuracy is usually given as a statistical measure of system error. Not to be confused with precision. Something can be measured very precisely, but still be inaccurate. Radio Navigation system accuracy can be characterized as: Predictable Accuracy of a position solution with respect to the charted solution, where both are based on the same geodetic datum. Repeatable The accuracy with which a user can return to a position whose coordinates have been measured at a previous time with the same system. Relative The accuracy with which a user can measure a position relative to that of another user of the same system at the same time. Ambiguity The uncertainty in the measurement of the number of wave cycles of the GPS carrier between the satellite and the receiver.
